Hackney: A Social Enterprise Borough

In 2017, Be You Be Me worked as a consultant for Hackney Co-operative Developments CIC to lead the successful application for London Borough of Hackney to be recognised by Social Enterprise UK as a social enterprise Borough.
As part of this project Be You Be Me produced Hackney’s inaugural (now annual) social enterprise conference in partnership with Hackney Council in 2017 and 2018 (Social Enterprise in the City, 2017, Hackney: A Social Enterprise Borough, 2018).

Be You Be Me worked on behalf of HCD to convene Hackney’s Social Enterprise Place Partnership (HSEPP) and supported the group to co-create Hackney’s first social enterprise manifesto ‘Hackney Is Social’ which was launched in November 2018.

In 2018 this work was shortlisted for the Market Builder award at Social Enterprise UK’s annual sector awards.

Be You Be Me is now an independent member of the Hackney Social Enterprise Place Partnership since 2019 and hopes to invest more time in the group in 2020.
